Telehealth service reins in cost to employers, offers convenience for workers and helps get them back to work faster

BOSTON (Sept. 29, 2015) – American Well, the nation’s most trusted telehealth services provider, today announced it is entering the workers’ compensation sector through a strategic partnership with CorVel Corporation, a national provider of risk management solutions. Together the companies will deliver on-demand doctor evaluations for employees with a workplace injury.

According to the National Council on Compensation Insurance, average medical costs per lost time claim have risen steadily since 2005, and in 2014, the average medical cost per lost time claim was $30,000i. A major contributor to cost is lag time, the number of days it takes for a claim to be reported. Workers’ compensation costs can potentially increase each day a claim goes unreported, and with delays in getting access to timely medical care.

While a traditional visit to see a doctor can be delayed due to appointment scheduling, American Well’s platform allows workers to be seen immediately, 24/7, through the coordinated care of a CorVel advocacy nurse.
